What Is Summary Administration?

At The Law Office of Brian W. Hurd, our attorneys have experience representing individuals and families in Merritt Island and the surrounding areas through the estate administration and trust administration process.

The Summary Administration Process

When the value of an estate is under $75,000, there is a will, and the debts have been paid in full, Summary Administration is available. Another instance when it is available is if the descendent has passed away over two years ago and no administration has occurred.

All essential documentation will be submitted to the court at the same time. Then, the court should demand what is called an Order of Summary Administration. This declares how the assets from the estate will be distributed to creditors and recipients.

This is a more simple form of probate compared to the formal administration process since it is faster and at a lower cost.

Knowing that individuals who receive the assets from the estate in a summary administration is important. The reason is that those individuals can be held responsible.
